Annual Chinese New Year Celebration returns to Penn Museum

2017 is the Year of the Rooster

On Jan. 21, Penn Museum will host its 36th Annual Chinese New Year Celebration. There will be tours, demonstrations, crafts and other family-friendly activities leading up to the Lion Dance finale.

There are also a few new components to the day. 

Attendees will have an opportunity to go on a zodiac tour of the galleries in search of artifacts featuring the 12 animals that make up the Chinese zodiac. 2017 marks the Year of the Rooster.

Contemporary Asian and Asian-American media and arts will be featured at the celebration, too. The Philadelphia Asian Film Festival and the Asian Arts Initiative partnered with the event.

All activities in the Chinese New Year Celebration are free with museum admission, which is $10-$15 per person.
