The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Pennsylvania dropped from 5.1 percent in November to 4.8 percent in December, the lowest it has been since March 2008, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Additionally, the number of jobs statewide grew by 8,300 from November to December, the department reported. The average monthly increase of non-farm jobs in Pennsylvania's economy is now at 7,555 over the last three months, the highest it has been since December of 2010.
While sectors such as building, manufacturing, education and health services have shown net increases over the past year, only jobs in information and government have suffered an annual decline.
