Pennsylvania budget impasse continues as House Dems shoot down pension reform

Pension reform pact killed

A Pennsylvania budget bill was shot down by the House in a 149-52 vote on Saturday afternoon.

In doing so, the pension reform bill that was touted as a key element to passing a budget – the state is in day 172 of a stalemate – also died.

Gov. Tom Wolf and other leaders had agreed to the reform as an element in settling the budget impasse.

Every Democrat – Wolf’s own party – voted against the reform.

Majority Leader Dave Reed, R-Indiana County told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that the next step Sunday would be consideration of a stop-gap budget bill.
