One of ballet’s oldest and most endearing works is being re-staged by the Pennsylvania Ballet this spring. The hauntingly romantic classic known as Giselle will run March 7-17 at the Academy of Music. Tickets are on sale now.
Through iconic choreography and ballet-pantomime, Giselle tells the powerful story of a young woman who dies of a broken heart after discovering her lover is engaged to someone else. Her love ultimately triumphs over vengeance when she saves her remorseful lover from supernatural brides-to-be that force men to dance to their death.
“I’m delighted to re-stage Giselle for the first time. This timeless ballet showcases the power that ballet holds in telling deeply emotional stories,” said Pennsylvania Ballet and Artistic Director Angel Corella. “I’m thrilled to bring this perfect combination of choreography, drama and music to life.”
Giselle is also one of the most enduring and revered scores in the ballet repertoire. It was composed by the prolific Adolphe Adam, who is known for emphasizing the emotional connection between music and stories performed on stage.
Experience this timeless tale about the powers of betrayal, love, death and dance that continues to move audiences. Get your tickets now.
