Mural Arts Program has brought Open Source, a month-long look at public art, innovation and creativity, to Philadelphia. Throughout October, Mural Arts will be hosting tons of important (and yes, famous) artists from all over the world for discussions, workshops and parties to celebrate their accomplishments and Philadelphia's amazing art community.
Fourteen of those artists have created special new projects for the occasion. The Dufala Brothers, Sam Durant, Shepard Fairey, JR, Ernel Martinez & Keir Johnston, MOMO, Jonathan Monk, Odili Donald Odita, Michelle Angela Ortiz, Sterling Ruby, Jennie Shanker, Shinique Smith, Swoon and Heeseop Yoon are all participating. From waste transfer stations to pop-up bodegas to murals, each of the projects is worth seeing.
And thus, Mural Arts is hosting a series of tours this month so Philadelphians can see them all. Sign up for one of the tours below - some by trolley, some by foot - or try to see them all on your own using this handy map.
