One dead, several injured in Montgomery County crash

Intersection in Franconia closed as investigators determine cause of crash

Officials in Montgomery County say one person was killed and several others injured in a three-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in Franconia.

According to investigators, the accident occurred at the intersection of Harleysville Pike and Keller Creamery Road, NBC 10 reports.

The initial collision involved a truck and delivery van, according to 6 ABC. As the van slowed to a stop traveling north on Harleysville Pike, a truck rammed into its rear, sending it into the opposite lane, where it struck a Honda sedan heading southbound.

Police said the female passenger of the Honda sedan was airlifted to Lehigh Valley Medical Center, where she died of her injuries. The delivery van driver was airlifted by a second helicopter to Abington Memorial Hospital. The truck driver was taken to Abington Hospital - Lansdale for treatment of injuries. Their conditions were not immediately available.

The intersection in Franconia was temporarily closed as investigators attempted to determine the cause of the crash.
