One person is dead and another is injured after a hit-and-run in Juniata Park Sunday night, 6ABC reports.
The crash occurred at 10:30 p.m. near East Luzerne and I streets.
A Mazda sedan was struck by an SUV while pulling out of a parking spot, according to police. The SUV fled after the crash. The driver of the Mazda, identified by family members as 42-year-old Francis Arroyo, died at a nearby hospital.
A passenger in the car was also taken to the hospital. That man, identified as Arroyo's brother, 41-year-old Osvaldo Arroyo, was treated and released by 6 a.m. Monday.
With the help of a witness who called 911, police found the striking vehicle a few miles away on Rising Sun Avenue near Ninth Street.
The driver remains on the run.
The Arroyo family told 6ABC that a dog important to the care of Osvaldo Arroyo's 12-year-old special-needs son was also in the Mazda at the time of the incident. That dog, named Max, is missing.
The crash is under investigation.
