Officer injured after vehicle struck by alleged drunk driver in South Philly

A Philadelphia police officer was injured in a crash in South Philadelphia early Friday morning, NBC10 reports.

The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. at West Passyunk Avenue and South 25th Street.

The driver of a red sedan side-swiped the right rear of a female police officer's cruiser while she was stopped at a red light, investigators said.

The officer sustained minor injuries and was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center for treatment.

The 37-year-old male driver of the sedan was arrested for DUI, investigators said.

The incident remains under investigation.
