Amtrak officials are investigating reports of an unknown object striking and shattering the window of a moving train Sunday evening while it was passing through Philadelphia.
The incident took place on the eve of the National Transportation Safety Board’s release of investigation findings from the deadly Amtrak derailment in Philadelphia in May.
NBC10 reports an unknown object struck the window of a New York-bound Acela Express train shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday while it was was traveling through Bridesburg.

While no conclusion has been reached on what the object was at this time, there is talk about it possibly being a thrown object or a bullet, NBC10 reports. Whatever it was left a hole in at least one window.
According to CBSPhilly, the train was carrying 201 passengers and originated in Washington D.C.
Passenger Taylor Lorenz told CBS 2 News that they heard a "giant boom."
There were no reports of injuries to passengers or crew members, and, according to NBC10, the train stopped at Metropark in New Jersey to check the damage.
