A famous New York City spice master is creating a signature blend for Philadelphia's philanthropic luncheonette, Rooster Soup Co.
Rooster Soup Co. serves soups made with Federal Donuts chicken scraps and then donates all of its profits to help the city's homeless.
According to Food & Wine, renowned spice master Lior Lev Sercarz is lending his talents to create a custom spice blend for Rooster Soup Co.
Food & Wine notes that Sercarz is friends with Michael Solomonov and Steve Cook, the culinary mastermind couple behind the CookNSolo restaurant group, which includes Federal Donuts, Zahav, Abe Fisher and Dizengoff, as well as the Rooster Soup Co.

Rooster Soup Co. opened on Jan. 23 at 1526 Sansom St. and is made to feel and look like a diner with a menu comprised of soups, sandwiches and more inspired by the two chefs.
All of its profits go to the Broad Street Ministry's Hospitality Collaborative, which serves Philadelphians in need.
