The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for large parts of South Jersey, advising residents that powerful gusts could result in significant property damage and power outages overnight Sunday and into Monday.

A statement from the NWS says the warning covers Atlantic, Cape May and southeastern Burlington counties, including the cities of Hammonton, Cape May Court House, Ocean City, Atlantic City and Wharton State Forest.
East winds are expected to hit 25-35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph, with the strongest winds coming early Monday and into the early afternoon.
"Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines," forecasters said. "Scattered to numerous power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles."
The high wind warning will remain in effect from 3 a.m. Monday morning until 4 p.m. Monday afternoon.
Residents in coastal areas of South Jersey are advised to be alert to the possibility of local flooding.
