Notre Dame star Will Fuller, a Philly native, declares for NFL draft

Roman Catholic grad makes announcement on Twitter

Former Roman Catholic High School standout and current wide receiver for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Will Fuller, a junior, has declared for the 2016 NFL draft.

Fuller announced the decision on Twitter Sunday. His decision comes two days after the Irish were crushed by the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Fiesta Bowl.

In his announcment, Fuller says his heart truly wants him to return to Notre Dame, but said it's in his best interest to forego his senior season to pursue his professional career. The speedy Philadelphia native also says he still wants to finish his degree at the university.

In November, Fuller said he was returning to Notre Dame for his final year of eligibility, but reconsidered the commitment eariler in December after some close to him advised him to do so.

Fuller finished the season among the nation's leaders in a number of stats. He was tied for 5th in recieving touchdowns (13) and came in fifth for recieving yards (1,145) and yards per reception (20.5).

Earlier this year, Fuller returned to his hometown to face the then-undefeated Temple Owls, an experience he "couldn't wait for," according to his father. In the Irish's 24-20 victory, Fuller scored the winning touchdown in front of a sold out crowd at Lincoln Financial Field.
