Northeast Philly man hospitalized with rattlesnake bite

Victim found after Animal Control officials execute search warrant

A Mayfair man was hospitalized Sunday after his pet rattlesnake bit him in the arm, potentially requiring the limb to be amputated.

Animal Care and Control Team officials said the incident occurred around 4 p.m. Sunday at the victim's residence on the 3500 block of Wellington Street, according to CBS 3.

The victim was discovered after police executed a search warrant at the property on suspicion that he may be in possession of several other reptiles.

Whether or not police ACCT officials found any other reptiles was not immediately revealed, nor was the fate of the rattlesnake who bit its owner.
