UPDATE (6 p.m.): A 32-year-old man has been charged with accidentally shooting his girlfriend's 9-year-old daughter in the parking lot of a McDonald's in North Philadelphia on Wednesday night, police said.
Derrick Marshall, of Philadelphia, is charged with aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child, tampering with evidence and related firearms offenses, authorities said.
The shooting happened at 6:17 p.m. outside the McDonald's at Broad Street and Allegheny Avenue, police said. Marshall allegedly was walking with the girl when his gun, which he had placed in his pants, accidentally fired and struck her in the calf. The shooting was captured in surveillance video, police said. The girl was taken to Temple University Hospital and later transferred to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children.
Police said they recovered two weapons from Marshall and held his car as evidence.

A 9-year-old girl was shot in the leg Wednesday night while in the parking lot of a McDonald's in North Philadelphia.

Surveillance video shows a man getting out of his car and putting his firearm into his pants, 6ABC reported. The gun then discharged. Additional footage shows the girl's leg buckling as she's walking toward the restaurant with her father, police said. The family entered the restaurant before realizing the girl had been shot, NBC10 reported.
The man took her to Temple University Hospital and she was later transported to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, where she is in stable condition, police said.
Investigators did not find any ballistic evidence at the scene, NBC10 reported. There was small amounts of blood in the restaurants. No charges have been filed.
