A New Jersey Transit bus driver was cited for reckless driving Monday morning after the bus rear-ended a street sweeper in South Jersey, according to Galloway Township Police.
The crash occurred just after midnight along the eastbound intersection of White Horse Pike and Damson Avenue in Galloway Township.
Police said the street sweeper was stopped at the intersection for a red light. The bus driver, identified as Yolanda Jamison of Franklinville, struck the street sweeper, causing the bus to leave the roadway, strike a traffic light post and come to rest in the woods, police said.
Two passengers were on the Route 554 bus at the time of the incident. One passenger was transported to ARMC Mainland with non-life-threatening injuries. Jamison was trapped and had to be extricated. She sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The eastbound lanes of White Horse Pike were closed off and on for approximately five hours, police said.
