NJ Transit will receive $71 million in the latest round of federal relief funding for the destruction caused by Superstorm Sandy in 2012, the agency announced Friday.

According to 6 ABC, the funds from the Federal Transit Administration will be used to rebuild and replace damaged equipment as part of a $3.7 billion second round of funding for Sandy relief.

To date, NJ Transit has received $1.7 billion in relief.

Specifically, the current round of funding will be used to repair and replace the Hoboken Terminal power supply. An electrical substation in Hoboken will also replaced and moved to a location that will ensure durability.

Additional substations will also be replaced in Bay Head and at an operations center in Kearny.
