New Jersey forest firefighters continue to battle a blaze that’s taken over hundreds of acres in the New Jersey Pine Barrens.
According to reports from 6ABC, the fire broke out on Monday in Woodland Township, Burlington County, and was still burning as of Tuesday morning, with word that containment lines were expected to hold the fire at around 1,000 acres.
The Ocean County Sheriff's Department issued a statement saying that there was no danger to nearby residents or property, nor have there been reports of any injuries at this time.
Anywhere from Manchester to Jackson to the western parts of Toms River and Lakewood may smell smoke, Ocean County department officials said.
