New Jersey man sentenced for relationship with teen, police chase

Robert DeCamp III, 25, must register as a sex offender

A South Jersey man will spend six years in state prison after he was sentenced Friday in connection to an inappropriate relationship with a teenage girl and a police chase in November 2013.

According to prosecutors in Gloucester County, 25-year-old Robert DeCamp III, of Millville, was in a relationship with a girl between the ages of 13-16, who gave birth to a child between them. The girl's father told police about the relationship with DeCamp, described as consensual, in October 2013 shortly after gaining custody of her, CBS 3 reports.

The following month, police attempted to arrest DeCamp, but he took off in his vehicle before eventually crashing and surrendering to authorities.

Decamp pleaded guilty to child endangerment and eluding police in May.

As part of the sentencing, DeCamp will have to register as a sex offender.
