New Jersey Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno has officially announced her campaign to run for state governor.
In a video announcement on Monday, Guadagno, 57, Gov. Chris Christie's second-in-command, described her run as one for the people, "because we have to create a better New Jersey."
She goes on to say that her career in politics was inspired by her desire to create a better community for her children and that has grown into a drive to be a champion for the entire Garden State.
Other Republicans to declare their candidacies for governor are Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli; Nutley, New Jersey, Commissioner Steve Rogers; and Ocean County businessman Joseph Rullo. The Democrats running, to date, are Phil Murphy, Assemblyman John Wisniewski and Sen. Ray Lesniak.
Christie's term ends in 2018.
