The New Jersey Board of Education will acknowledge the observance of more than 100 religious holidays during the 2016-17 school year, following faiths ranging from Islam, Christianity, Wicca and more NJ.com reports.

By approving the list of holidays, found here, schools must allow students celebrating a holiday to be absent with special accommodations made by the school, such as the opportunity to make up tests or other assessments.

A signed parental note acknowledging the reason for the absence must be presented to the school.
