An NFL Films-produced documentary following the journey of Eagles defensive lineman Chris Long and former Eagles defensive lineman Connor Barwin up Mount Kilimanjaro is set to premiere Friday, Dec. 28 on NFL Network.
The film, called “The Way Up: Chris Long & The Waterboys” tells the story of Long’s drive to serve a variety of communities over the last two years, including raising money and attention for the water crisis in Tanzania.

Long was accompanied by Barwin, former Seahawk and Green Beret Nate Boyer, former Dream Team Eagle Vince Young, and a few other climbers.
“It was my first climb up Mt. Kilimanjaro in 2013 that began my lifelong commitment to the clean water cause, and now I get to share that every year with a team of military combat veterans and athletes,” Long said in a release about the documentary.
“I am thrilled to be a part of The Way Up film project. I hope by sharing our story, others will be inspired to get involved and help us get water to one million people."
The documentary features interviews with Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie and safety Malcolm Jenkins, discussing the way Long has been able to give back to communities near to, and far from, Philadelphia.
Long has been one of the most visible and vocal supporters on the team of Jenkins’ quest to bring attention to racial inequality in the United States.
Last season, of course, Long also donated his entire salary to charity.
When Long signed with the Eagles during the 2017 offseason, Barwin was actually one of the driving factors behind Long winding up in Philadelphia for the first Super Bowl in franchise history.
The special airs Friday, Dec. 28 at 8:00 p.m.
