Hyphernkemberly Dorvilier, 23, was sentenced Friday after she entered a plea of guilty in February to aggravated manslaughter related to the January 2015 death of the infant.
Reports citing witness accounts allege Dorvilier doused the newborn with WD-40 spray and the set her on fire causing third-degree burns over 60 percent of the newborn’s body. The child died soon after at a nearby hospital from smoke inhalation and the burns.
NBC10 also reports Dorvilier hid her pregnancy from her mother and sister, prosecutors said, adding that the newborn was found with her umbilical cord and placenta still attached.
