A New Jersey man is accused of possessing and distributing the most child pornography images and videos in the history of state investigations.

Charles Diggs, 36, of Roselle, allegedly posted the child pornography on his Twitter account and had more than 325,000 images and videos on his computer equipment, including videos showing child rape.

Attorney General Christopher S. Porrino announced Friday that the amount of explicit images and videos Diggs allegedly had is more than four times greater than the previous state record.

“It’s heartbreaking to think of the many thousands of children who were raped and robbed of their innocence to create the images and videos he allegedly possessed," Porrino said.

Investigators said they were able to trace a Twitter account posting child porn images back to Diggs, leading to the seizure of five computers and several hard drives that contained the thousands of files, including more than 14,000 videos.

Some of the videos showed the sexual assault of "very young children," authorities said.
