New Hope Celebrates, a nonprofit business organization based in the Bucks County town, hosts its annual Pride Week Sunday, May 10 through Sunday, May 17. The week is filled with events celebrating the LGBT community and diversity, from parades to block parties.
The week kicks off with the unfurling of a 100-foot rainbow flag at the New Hope Starbucks at noon Sunday, May 10. Tuesday, May 12 Miss Pumpkin & Friends will host a drag show at Rrazz Room celebrating her 25th year in the entertainment business. Miss Pumpkin will also host the quarterly FACT BINGO night Wednesday, May 13 at the New Hope Eagle Fire Hall.
Plenty of live concerts and dance parties are scheduled for Pride Week. Featured performers include Josh Zuckerman, Eryn Woods, Jason Walker and DJ Luis Perez. The all-male singing string quartet Well Strung will perform pop hits and twists classical music on Friday, May 15 as well.
The capstone of Pride Week will be on Saturday, May 16, the day of the Pride Parade, Vendor Fair and Rock the Block Party. The parade will begin at 11:30 a.m., crossing the bridge from Lambertville, New Jersey into New Hope. The annual Vendor Fair will go down at the Bucks County Playhouse starting at 1 p.m., including jewelry, crafts, clothing, LGBT organizations and food. The Rock the Block Party will take place simultaneously, featuring rock band Antigone Rising.
