In an effort to provide more job training opportunities, the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development is spending about $500,000 to help residents in the Camden area learn new career skills, according to a press release from the department.

The money is linked to recent measures that provide businesses with tax breaks for locating in Camden.

"When we look at the city and challenges we face, so many of those issues could be addressed with a job," Rep. Donald Norcross, D-N.J., said to the Associated Press.

According to the press release, job seekers will receive training for career readiness and learn how to become drivers, scale operators and clerks, for example.

Officials called the grant part of a "coordinated statewide plan" aimed at aligning workers with job opportunities. Read more here.
