The NBA Trade Deadline is rapidly approaching, with all trades needing to be finalized before February 7 at 3 p.m. And with the Sixers looking to contend for the Eastern Conference title this season, there's a chance first-year general manager Elton Brand becomes a buyer before the trade clock expires on Thursday.
All winter, we've been keeping track of the latest free agency news and trade rumors surrounding the Phillies this offseason, and we decided it's a good time to start doing the same for the Sixers with the deadline so close.
Our own Kyle Neubeck has already written extensively on the trade deadline, and you can read some of his work here:
• Will Wilson Chandler's injury impact Sixers' approach to NBA trade deadline?
• What should the Sixers do with Markelle Fultz at the NBA trade deadline?
• The Sixers could benefit from Knicks trade of Kristaps Porzingis
• Sixers can make NBA's best trade offer for Anthony Davis, but they probably shouldn't
• How does Anthony Davis trade request impact the Sixers?
• Would the Sixers explore a trade for Grizzlies guard Mike Conley?
And that's just in the last week or so. Kyle also answered a ton of trade-specific questions in his Sixers chat on Friday, which is definitely worth checking out.
Of course, the big name being talked about in Philly the last few days has been Jrue Holiday, who was a former first-round pick and member of the pre-Process Sixers before being traded to the Pelicans. Over at The700Level, Shamus Clancy took a look at three potential trade scenarios that could land Holiday back in Philly at the deadline.
All three of his deals including trading away Wilson Chandler, who will now miss the next two-three weeks with a quad injury. Still here's the first of his three deals, which is arguably the simplest of the bunch and includes shipping off a former No. 1 overall pick in Markelle Fultz.
Trade Option No. 1
Sixers receive: Holiday
Pelicans receive: F Wilson Chandler, G Markelle Fultz, 2019 Sixers first rounder, 2021 Heat first-round pick (via Sixers)
New Orleans begins its massive teardown a bit early ahead of the eventual Davis trade, as the Pelicans acquire two future first rounders, including a juicy unprotected first from Miami in 2021, as well as Markelle Fultz, who I have no idea how to properly value at this point, but who presents head coach Alvin Gentry with a massive reclamation project. The other two deals involve third teams, but you'll have to go check them out on your own.
We'll have a lot more in the coming week leading up to the trade deadline, but in the meantime, here's a look at the latest rumors surrounding the Sixers and the rest of the NBA...
