Carson Wentz says he's trying to recruit LeBron James to Sixers

When you're a Super Bowl champion — or really a successful professional athlete of any measure — you get to do things most regular people only dream of.

You know, kind of like how, in the middle of OTA's, Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz went to an NBA Finals game in Cleveland purely on an impulse.

Or was it just an impulse?

Wentz and trusty right-hand man (and tight end) Zach Ertz were at Game 4 of the finals last week, on hand to watch the Cavaliers relent and get swept by the Golden State Warriors.

Were they there to help the Sixers make a recruiting push for the services of The King?

"Absolutely, absolutely," Wentz said Wednesday when asked by reporters after minicamp practice if it was a recruiting trip. "I hope he's coming. Ertz and I were there the other night. Unfortunately he lost, I didn’t really care who won that game, but seeing him live — we decided to make it a recruiting trip."

Ertz has been an outspoken fan of James for quite some time, as is visible on his social media.

Most Sixers fans are becoming LeBron James fans too, as the impending July free agency period is sure to be a dramatic and much anticipated affair.

As of this week, Philly is among the favorites to land James.

Wentz says he and Ertz didn't actually get to meet with James during their brief visit to Cleveland, "but hopefully he knows we were there," Wentz added.
