The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown held a memorial service on Monday afternoon after the death of a 23-year-old student who had recently become a national championship wrestler.

University president Jem Spectar announced the service Sunday for Nick Roberts, a senior criminology major in the class of 2017. The cause of Roberts' death was not immediately known, but authorities said foul play was not suspected. An investigation remains ongoing.

Roberts transferred to Pitt-Johnstown following the 2015-2016 wrestling season from Ohio State University. After sitting out his first semester, Roberts won the NCAA Division II Super Region I Championship and a National Championship at 133 lbs.

According to local NBC affiliate WJAC-TV, Roberts was a Listie native who attended North Star High School in Somerset County, winning three state titles.

University officials said grief counseling will be available to students throughout the week.
