Update 10/1/15: Due to this weekend's weather forecasts, the N3rd Street Birthday Party has been postponed. It will now take place Saturday, Oct. 24 from noon-5 p.m. at Liberty Lands.
Last year, the city of Philadelphia officially recognized the sector of North Third Street, dubbed "N3rd Street," that plays home to much of the city's growing tech and startup community in a ceremony at Liberty Lands Park. Official street signs were put up, and ever since, the corridor has continued to organize itself in creating things like the N3rd Street Farmers Market and N3rd Street Prom.
To celebrate their first birthday, N3rd Street is throwing a party at Liberty Lands Friday, Oct. 2 Saturday, Oct. 24. The event, will bring local tech and startup companies to the park to create interactive information booths for the public. There will be live entertainment, food, drinks and games, too.
The whole celebration is also a fundraiser for N3rd Street's initiatives, which include building a free Wi-Fi network for the corridor with Bamboo Wifi and supporting local community centers, schools and neighborhood associations. The group is currently accepting donations to its IndieGoGo campaign.
