Department Store Century 21 will present the annual Moore College of Art & Design Fashion Show on Saturday, May 14. For 2016, the show is titled "A Genre of Her Own: Mirroring Picasso" and will take place at the Barnes Foundation, which is exhibiting Picasso pieces until Monday, May 9.
Seniors at the college will share collections and an eveningwear finale inspired by Picasso. The evening will also feature athleisure collections from Moore College juniors and a "tween" segment created by sophomores.
“Picasso was really a genre of his own in the art world, and so knowing that, coupled with the talent and innovation of our students, senior faculty members coined the phrase ‘A Genre of Her Own’ for the theme of the fashion show,” Dianna Vass, chair and associate professor of fashion design, stated in a press release.
After the fashion pieces have been presented, awards will be given out by Century 21's Chief Creative and Marketing Officer, Valentino Vettori, for Best in Show and Most Sellable. Select students will also be presented with awards determined by guest critics, many of whom are Moore alumni, all working in the fashion industry.
A selection of the winning fashions will be displayed in the windows of the Century 21 store at Eighth and Market streets for a month following the show.
Online tickets for the event are $30. They will be $40 at the door unless already sold out. VIP tickets will also be available for $150. They include reserved seats by the runway and parking at the Barnes.
$15 tickets for Moore students must be purchased in advance in person with an ID at The Art Shop at Moore prior to May 14.
