Have you ever heard of moon milk? It’s an old Ayurvedic remedy for sleep that contains several anti-inflammatory herbs and spices, along with a natural adaptogen called ashwagandha, which can help calm the body.

Moon Milk

Ingredients:
1 cup of unsweetened nut milk (hemp, almond, cashew, etc.)
½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon
½ a teaspoon of ground turmeric
¼ teaspoon of ground ashwagandha
2 pinches of ground cardamom
1 pinch of ground ginger
1 pinch of black pepper
1 teaspoon of ghee or virgin coconut oil
1 teaspoon of raw honey

Directions:

  1. Add milk to small saucepan; simmer over medium-low heat.
  2. Add cinnamon, turmeric, ashwagandha, cardamom, ginger, and black pepper.
  3. Whisk vigorously (to avoid clumps) until combined.
  4. Add ghee/coconut oil, reduce heat to low, and cook for at least 5-10 minutes. (The longer it cooks, the stronger the milk is.)
  5. Remove from heat and let milk cool slightly.
  6. Add honey and stir. Top with a sprinkle of additional cinnamon, if desired.

Tip: For maximum benefits, enjoy this drink after dinner or before bed.
