A Montgomery County man was arraigned and jailed Tuesday on homicide charges in connection with a crash that killed his friend.

The Montgomery County District Attorney's Office announced the charges on Jan. 14 against Corey Adam Mitchell, 26, of Souderton, for the accident that took the life of 25-year-old Erik Detweiler of Quakertown.

The crash, which occurred on Dec. 27 around 2 a.m., happened on Route 611 in Horsham when the Hyundai Mitchell was driving and Detweiler was a passenger. Mitchell attempted a left turn onto County Line Road.

A tractor trailer slammed into the car, killing Detweiler, a 2008 graduate of Quakertown High School who was living in California at the time.

Prosecutors say that Mitchell was driving the car at night without the headlights on and made the turn despite a red light. Mitchell also had a blood alcohol content of .154 percent and had marijuana in his system, according to authorities.

The criminal complaint against Mitchell says the two had been drinking at a strip club called Double Visions Bar on Route 611 before the accident occurred, according to Philly Mag.

Mitchell has been sent to Montgomery County Correctional Facility on counts of homicide by vehicle, DUI and related charges after he was unable to post $100,000 bail. A preliminary hearing has been set for Jan. 27.
