Martha and Mike's BBQ team up to throw backyard barbecue

Dishes inspired by Vietnamese cuisine will be served

Martha, located in Kensington, will host a backyard barbecue on Tuesday, April 11 as part of the bar's pop-up series.

Michael Strauss of Mike’s BBQ will be cooking up specials on the grill, beginning at 6 p.m.

The food will be slightly different than what you would find at your typical neighborhood cook-out, though. Dishes will be inspired by Vietnamese cuisine.

While Strauss is excited to serve pork and brisket, he has made sure vegan and vegetarian options are also available for attendees.

Here's the menu:

•Smoked Pho French Dip Sandwich ($10) - Smoked brisket (or a portobello mushroom), caramelized onions, bean sprout, cilantro, fried shallots, jalapeno, Sriracha, hoisin sauce and smoked veggie jus’ on a Vietnamese roll

•BBQ Pork Banh Mí Sandwich ($9) - Smoked BBQ Pork (or lentil-carrot BBQ), pickled carrots and daikon, cilantro, jalapeno and grilled leek aioli

•Vietnamese Cold Noodle Salad ($7) - Noodles, green onion, bean sprouts, carrots, cucumber, cilantro, cashews and sesame seeds

•Spicy Papaya Salad ($7) - Includes peanuts

Behind the bar, Reddy Cypress will be creating Vietnamese-inspired cocktails. Try peanut butter washed burbon, chile lemongrass infused gin or banana rum with lime and coconut.

To set the mood, live music will be performed by Jesse Short.
