Updated June 26: Margate's 6th Annual Beachstock has been rescheduled for Saturday, July 11 due to inclement weather.
If you're lucky enough to be heading down to Margate Saturday, June 27, you'll happen upon the 6th Annual Beachstock party, a 13-hour celebration of summer. Dubbed "the planet's biggest beach party," it all kicks off with early morning sports at 7:30 a.m.: paddleboarding, yoga, surfing and a volleyball competition.
The live music begins at 10 a.m. with Senni Bloom on the main stage. A kids stage will host a lineup of family-friendly entertainment (including a hula hoop contest) from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. At 11:30 a.m., the beer garden, food vendors, craft vendors and sponsor tables open up for shopping and imbibing.
The winners of the 2015 Battle by the Beach music contest will perform on the main stage throughout the day, as will the 2014 winners, Milkmen. Between 12:30 and 5 p.m., the main stage will be filled with a variety of performers, including South Pacific Island Dancers. Face painting, surf lessons, a bonfire, lifeguard competitions and more round out the day's activities.
Throwback acts will fill the beach with the sounds of the '50s and '60s after 5 p.m. until "The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out of Water" comes on at 8:30 p.m. to finish out the night. See the full schedule of events here. Don't forget: no beach tags required for the event!
