Marcus Mariota in Philly: 'Yeah, why not?'

"I'm just happy to be here, hope I can help the ball club."

INDIANAPOLIS -- Marcus Mariota spoke to reporters at the NFL Combine this afternoon, and he almost pulled a hamstring while jumping up and down at the chance to play for Chip Kelly in Philadelphia. "Yeah, why not," said Mariota when presented with the possibility. "I think that would be a fun opportunity, but this process is out of our hands, out of our control, so we'll see what happens."

Mariota has not yet met with Kelly at the Combine, which probably isn't even all that necessary, but he did say he met with newly hired Eagles quarterback coach Ryan Day.

Mariota was also asked about rumors of the Eagles trying to trade up to draft him. "It's nice, but it's out of our control, Mariota reiterated. "People will always talk, there will always be rumors, but right now in this process for me I'm just trying to be the best player I can be."

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

Mariota may have to learn a pro style offense in the NFL, but he has already been coached up on his cliches.

If the Eagles do indeed trade up and land Marcus Mariota, he and Nick Foles won't just be competing on the football field in training camp. They'll be competing to give the most boring press conferences ever.
