Don't be surprised to find Philadelphia's renowned chef Marc Vetri serving up steaks from behind the window of South Philadelphia's iconic Pat's King of Steaks on Thursday.
According to the Passyunk Post, from 3-5 p.m. Thursday, Vetri – the chef behind Philadelphia's popular Osteria, Pizzeria Vetri, Alla Spina and several other restaurants - will be cooking with Pat's owner Frank Olivieri.
During these hours, Pat's will offers its original 'wit' or 'witout' cheesesteaks and fries, but Vetri will also be offering his take on the iconic sandwich, with the following ingredients on hand: Taleggio cheese and fried mortadella from Di Bruno Bros., beef, cherry peppers and onions.
The Passyunk Post reports Vetri's guest chef debut at Pat's is part of the years-old establishment's new guest chef series and is an opportunity to spice things up – but just for a few hours.
Each sandwich will cost $10 with proceeds going toward The Vetri Community Partnership, Vetri's nonprofit with a mission for encouraging healthy habits in children.
