Man shot, killed while walking dog in West Philadelphia

Police say a man was killed Monday night when he was shot in the head while walking his dog in West Philadelphia, NBC10 reports.

The incident occurred around 7:25 p.m. along the 300 block of Horton St., near Vine Street.

The unidentified man was struck once in the head. Police say the victim was still holding the dog's leash when medics arrived.

He was transported to Penn Presbyterian Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead. The dog was not injured.

Another man was killed while walking dogs in West Philadelphia last Wednesday. About 3 miles away, a 34-year-old was shot several times while walking two Chihuahuas.  

The incident remains under investigation.
