NBC10 is reporting that a man who jumped into the Schuylkill River to escape the heat has drowned after being swept away Saturday. He was pulled from the water by a rescue crew.
According to the station:
Officials say the man, who is in his 50's, was attending the Hidden River Blues Festival at Venice Island Park off Main and Lock streets in Manayunk when he went into the river to cool off. As he was swimming he got swept away in the current.
The man’s identity has not been released.
