Police are searching for a gunman who left a man dead and a girl injured in South Jersey, according to media reports.
The incident occurred Saturday around 6:45 p.m. on the 100 block of East Federal Street in Burlington, New Jersey, the Burlington County Times reports.
Officers responded to the scene and found a 24-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was rushed to Cooper University Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Police also discovered a 5-year-old girl with injuries that were not life threatening. She was transported to Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center, according to 6ABC.
However, authorities have yet to determine how the girl was injured. Initially, the girl was believed to have been shot.
The gunman fled the area after the shooting and is still at large.
About two hours after the shooting, the Burlington County Police Department advised residents to avoid the New Yorkshire neighborhood.
