Man dies after trying to jump on SEPTA train

A man died trying to jump onto a moving SEPTA train in North Philadelphia early Saturday morning, according to officials.

SEPTA spokesperson Kristen Geiger said the incident happened at the Olney Transportation Center around 1:30 a.m.

The unidentified man tried to jump on the Broad Street Line train but fell. He died from his injuries, Geiger said.

While the scene was being held, passengers were temporarily offered shuttle bus service between Erie and Fern Rock stations. Normal service resumed at around 4:30 a.m.

The Philadelphia Police Department's Accident Investigation District is handling the investigation. As of 11 a.m. there was no new information regarding the incident, according to an officer at AID.
