The limited engagement "Mamma Mia!" farewell tour in Philadelphia begins on Dec. 27. There will, of course, be the '70s costumes and the catchy ABBA songs that made the musical a smash hit, but opening night also features a surprise.
At the end of the opening night performance, someone will win an all-expenses-paid wedding through the Mamma Mia! Wedding Giveaway. The contest is offered by the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, in partnership with Garces Events, as a celebration of the musical.
One lucky couple will have their big day completely taken care of. The venue, catering, flowers and more wedding details will all be free. In total, the prize is valued at $55,312.
The winner of the contest will get married on Feb. 11, 2017, in the Kimmel Center’s Hamilton Rooftop Garden. Catering will be provided by Garces Events for up to 100 guests. Party Rental Ltd. will take care of the table settings.
The bride and bridesmaids will be outfitted by David's Bridal, while groomsmen will wear Men's Wearhouse. EBE Events and Entertainment will provide the music. Petals Lane will bring the flowers for the big day. The invitations will be done by Paper Rock Scissors. To capture it all, Campli Photography and CinemaCake will be on hand.
That's not all, either. An officiant will be provided, as well as a one-night stay for the winning couple at a luxury hotel in Philadelphia.
So how do you enter?
Couples should make a 30-second video about their unique love story and post it to either Instagram or Twitter using the hashtag #MiaWeddingPHL (and remember to make the account public).
Those without social media accounts still have a chance. A brief essay can be sent to weddinggiveaway@kimmelcenter.org.
All entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 21. Finalists and the winner will be chosen at random.
All finalists will be invited to the Tuesday, Dec. 27, performance of "Mamma Mia!" at the Merriam Theater, where the winner will finally be announced on stage.
“In the spirit of 'Mamma Mia!,' we are absolutely delighted to announce our contest and encourage couples throughout the area to ‘take a chance’ on this incredible opportunity,” Anne Ewers, president and CEO of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, stated in a press release.
