Chef and restaurateur Luke Palladino, who owns Palladino's on East Passyunk Avenue and LP Steak at Valley Forge Casino in King of Prussia, will add Fianco, a comparably more casual Italian eatery, to his lineup – at least temporarily.

A pop-up concept slated to spring up next month beside LP Steak, the opening of Fianco will coincide with Memorial Day weekend, an effort to accommodate increased dining demand during the summer months and large events (see: that upcoming Daughtry concert). It will stay open through the end of the summer.
In concept, Fianco will mix chef interpretations of classic Italian cuisine with modern seasonal dishes. A few items from the menu: veal chop milanese (breaded veal chop, arugula, shaved parmigiano, grape tomatoes and aged balsamic vinegar), grilled octopus bruschetta, lobster and shrimp fra diavolo (garlic, chilies, white wine, tomatoes, parsley) and, for dessert, budino alla Nutella (chocolate hazelnut custard, topped with candied hazelnuts and whipped cream). Chef Steve Benzinger and sous chef Nicholas Persons, both of LP Steak, will head the kitchen.
The drink menu will include approximately 20 by-the-glass wine options, plus 200 bottles to choose from – mostly derived from Italy and California. On draft is a selection of 12 crafts beers.
The 1,600-square-foot space, previously occupied by Viviano, is expected to have a wood-heavy, minimalist feel that emphasizes the intended semi-casual vibe of the restaurant. It will boast about 80 seats and share a bar with LP Steak.
Meats and other ingredients will be sourced from Esposito's and Di Bruno Bros., both based out of the Italian Market in South Philadelphia.
Hours of operation are limited to 5-11 p.m. on weekends.
