In the second round of the playoffs, the Philadelphia Eagles will return to the scene of their worst defeat in years, when they take on the New Orleans Saints, a team that destroyed them 48-7 back in November in Week 11 of the regular season.
As we noted in our five matchups to watch when the Saints have the ball, the Eagles will have to find a way to get to Drew Brees against a nicked-up Saints offensive line. In Week 11, Brees was far too comfortable in a clean pocket, and picked apart the Eagles' decimated secondary with ease. As we noted in our five matchups to watch when the Eagles have the ball, the Saints have an excellent run-stuffing defense, but they struggled all season stopping the pass. The Eagles need Alshon Jeffery to step up in a big way Sunday evening.
The Eagles head into this matchup healthier than they've been in weeks, but still with a laundry list of players on injured reserve. The Saints, meanwhile, have had great injury luck all season long, and only list one non-factor on their final injury report. Make sure you check out the full Eagles-Saints injury report, with analysis.
The Eagles are 8-point underdogs, a week after they were 6.5-point underdogs on the road in the wildcard round in Chicago against the Bears. Here's who PhillyVoice's staff is picking, as well as other writers from around the country.
