The Phillies have spent roughly $73 million thus far this offseason. It will take more than a quarter of a billion more to land one of the top prizes: Manny Machado or Bryce Harper.
While it seems a decision on the landing spot for both is taking nearly the entire offseason — pitchers and catchers report in just over one month's time — progress toward a conclusion to this never ending series of rumors is coming.

Bryce Harper will meet with the Phillies' front office this weekend in Las Vegas, USAToday's Bob Nightengale confirmed:
The Philadelphia Phillies front office – including owner John Middleton – is flying to Las Vegas on Saturday to meet with prized free agent Bryce Harper and his agent, Scott Boras, in their first face-to-face talks, a person with direct knowledge of the negotiations told USA TODAY Sports. [USA TODAY]Philadelphia is set to become the third official team to meet with the player himself — several teams including the Phils did meet with Scott Boras during the winter meetings in December.
All signs point to one of these two gigantic dominos falling at some point prior to the start of February and spring training.
