A lockdown has been lifted at Lincoln High School in Mayfair after a report of a gun left outside the building Friday morning, CBSPhilly reports.
The report of a possible threat came in shortly after 11 a.m., when Philadelphia police said they received a call that a man wearing a hoodie and riding a bike had told some students he left a gun on the side of the school.
The school was locked down as a precaution as Homeland Security, the SWAT team and 15th District police officers searched the scene for the weapon.
The lockdown was lifted around 12:30 p.m. Police later said a student suspect was found in the school and taken into custody. However, they said no weapon has been recovered, nor was one ever seen by anyone.
The lockdown was the latest in a week of police responding to threats in the area.
Martin Luther King High School in East Germantown was placed on lockdown Wednesday morning. The Community College of Philadelphia was locked down Tuesday after a report of a person with a gun on campus.
On Monday, an online threat of violence against local universities in the Philadelphia area had students and residents on alert.
