Women's clothing retailer The Limited is closing all 250 of its stores after the weekend, the Associated Press reported Friday.
The company confirmed its closure in a brief message posted on its website.
As many as 4,000 people will lose their jobs as a result, according to the AP.
Shoppers will still be able to shop online, however, according to the message posted on its site.
Though the announcement may have been shocking to some, others may have seen it coming. The Limited began shutting some of its stores late last year, including locations in Indianapolis, Albany, N.Y. and Illinois, according to the Washington Post.
The Ohio-based store was founded in 1963 and once operated 750 stores nationwide.
The shutdown also came days after Macy's announced that it would be closing 68 stores across the country, including four in Philadelphia.
The website lists The Limited at the Freehold Raceway Mall in New Jersey as its closest location to Philadelphia. An employee confirmed to Philly.com that Saturday was its last day of operation.
