Whether you are ready or not, the Democratic National Convention will be held in Philadelphia later this month.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is trying to help the less prepared when a throng of visitors invades the City of Brotherly Love.
PennDOT launched a website that aims to assist both residents and visitors maneuver throughout the city, Governor Tom Wolf announced Thursday.
“The convention will bring thousands of delegates, media and visitors to Philadelphia and this site will help everyone keep on top of changing traffic conditions and information about street closures and restrictions,” Wolf said. “As we did with last year’s Papal visit, my administration has worked very hard to assist travelers during this important national event.”
The site lists all scheduled road closures and restrictions around the event in South Philly at the Wells Fargo Center that were announced in June.
During the event, the site will display real-time traffic conditions in the Greater Philadelphia region. This will allow drivers to plan accordingly to avoid busy areas and reduce congestion on the roads.
“We want to keep inconvenience to our visitors and residents alike at a minimum during the DNC, and this tool is one way they can become aware of changing traffic conditions,” PennDOT Secretary Leslie S. Richards said. “With this site, PennDOT is delivering on Gov. Wolf’s promise of a government that works.”
The Democratic National Convention will take place July 25-28 at the Wells Fargo Center.
