Multitalented Hollywood legend Lee Grant will appear at the Bryn Mawr Film Institute on April 22 for a double feature screening, a Q&A session and a book signing. Grant is an Academy Award-winning actress and documentarian, activist and now author, having recently penned a memoir of her fascinating life called "I Said Yes to Everything."
Early in her career Grant spent a dozen of her prime acting years on Hollywood's blacklist for marrying an American communist and speaking at a blacklisted friend's memorial. Her major professional comeback included roles in "Peyton Place" and "Valley of the Dolls" as well as directing 1986's Oscar-winning "Down and Out In America."
Two of Grant's most notable films -- "Shampoo," for which she won an Oscar, and "In the Heat of the Night" opposite Sidney Poitier -- will be screened at BMFI, with a John Hersker-led conversation in between. Hersker is a BMFI board member and former Paramount executive vice president.
Grant will sign copies of her memoir bought through Main Point Books before the screenings. Tickets include access to the signing, screenings and conversation.
