The Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education, in collaboration with The Soapbox, will host a two-day workshop on papermaking.

The class begins at 5 p.m. on July 15. Attendees will collect invasive plants from the center's grounds to use. Once enough material has been collected,  the instructor will demonstrate how the plant fibers are prepared to be made into paper -- they need to be beaten into a pulp.

Wine will be provided during this part of the process.

Then on the second day, beginning at 11 a.m., the class will form the pulp into sheets of paper. While the sheets dry, attendees will sew pre-made sheets of plant paper into handmade books.

All of the materials and tools will be provided by the center, but attendees should pack a lunch for Saturday's class.

Registration is required to attend. The price is $65 for Schuylkill Center and Soapbox members or $75 for non-members.
