John Oliver has some choice words for American journalists covering the recent attacks in the United Kingdom.
Oliver, host of HBO's "Last Week Tonight," took time on his show Sunday night to voice his discontent with the media, reminding his audience that "for the record, in no way is Britain under siege."
The show played a few clips from TV news broadcasts over the weekend, which reported that Britain was "reeling" from the terror attack that killed seven Saturday night.
"Is it upset? Yes. Is it pissed off? Oh, you f---ing bet it's pissed off, but to say it's under siege and that its people are reeling is to imply that it's somehow weak enough to be brought to its knees by three monumental a--holes and that, as an idea, is insulting."
Attackers veered a van onto the London Bridge on Saturday night and then took to the streets with large knives, killing seven and injuring 48 people. It's the third attack of its kind to strike Britain in the past three months and comes about two weeks after a suicide bombing in Manchester killed 23 people.
ISIS has since claimed responsibility for Saturday's London attack.
Oliver touched on Britain's response to the reports, which included the hashtag #ThingsThatLeaveBritainReeling that quickly became popular as well as a photo of a man running to safety with a pint of beer in hand that went viral.
